Meet the Founder

Grace Aristide

Minister Grace Aristide, formerly known as Mama Malou Ar, is the President and Founder of Helping the Helpless International Ministries, Inc. This ministry is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to be a pillar in the community to empower underprivileged families, particularly widows, orphans and seniors, and people rejected by society. Their goal is to alleviate the social, economic, educational, and spiritual challenges these families face on a daily basis, so that they can eventually become self-sufficient. The hope is that those who are served will teach the skills they acquired to others, creating a continuous rotating movement that will consolidate a larger group’s emancipation.
Ms. Aristide is a retired Social Worker with 25+ years of experience in the field. She has worked with several nonprofit organizations in the fields of domestic violence, the mentally challenged and their families, English as Second Language (for newly arrived immigrants from the Caribbean and Africa), and in a Managed At-Risk Youth program in the juvenile delinquency court system. Additionally, she has counseled young mothers in teen pregnancy programs, offering support, advocacy, childhood development and milestone awareness. Ms. Aristide has also been active in working with an Adult Day Care Center for seniors, providing help for people struggling with health and substance abuse issues. Lastly, she has directed a church food pantry for close to 10 years, working with some of the local food banks’ reps to supervise weekly food delivery and partner with volunteer organizations to supply help for distribution in person and at home delivery for incapacitated elderlies who were confined at home and other families in need without transportation.

Ms. Aristide holds a B.A. in English Literature from Pace University, with a concentration in Creative Writing, Poetry and Psychology (2000). She earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Touro College in 2008, and holds certificates in Christian Counseling, Biblical Studies and most recently (2022) Pastoral Care from the New York School of the Bible. She has one biological daughter and several spiritual sons and daughters, locally and overseas.

Ms. Aristide felt the call from God since the late 1990s, but didn’t yield to it until she was backed in a corner, losing everything she owned until she became homeless. She was taken to a slow and painful process before she got to a point of no return. Accepting the Lord Jesus as her personal Savior in July 2002 was the wisest decision of her life and that story will unfold in the near future. After being ordained as a Chaplain by the Anointed by God Association (2010), and a Minister by Bobby Hogan Ministries (2015), and as a Reverend by same ministry in 2024, the Lord Jesus Christ opened the door to connect her with ministries in different parts of the world. She had traveled to Canada, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico, Israel and Ivory Coast, and Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda and Kenya, to fulfill the Great Commission mandate of Matthew 28:19-20: “Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”

Ms. Aristide hopes that some of the gifts bestowed upon her will allow her to better fulfill God’s calling in her life and be a blessing to the Body of Christ, as she concentrates on the mandate from Philippians 2:4 “Not looking into your own interests, but each of you to the interests of others.”

Her personal goals are:

1- To love God and His people, be connected to them through networking with local and overseas ministries throughout the world and link them to each other. “Iron sharpens iron,” Proverbs 27:17.

2- To keep the fire burning by prayer, and fasting, by studying and meditating on the Word of God, and by daily declarations to be eventually fit for the Master’s use.

3- To learn to find joy and cultivate inner peace, especially in challenging situations.

4- To always be ready to help others and be willing to learn from others’ wisdom and experiences.
